Does my roof racks carry a rooftop tent?

Our rooftop tents fit most cars, but there are exceptions. There are three important things to check to make sure that your combination of car and roof racks can carry a rooftop tent.

  1. The weight of the rooftop tent and your roof racks does not weigh more than the maximum load set for your car. Most roof racks have a maximum load of 75-100 kilo, which works for our rooftop tents. The maximum weight is set as dynamic, meaning it the weight your car can handle while in motion. Your car can handle a lot more weight than that standing still.
  2. You have enough clean space on your roof racks. This differs per car and roof rack. You need a minimum of 72 cm clean space on your roof rack to fit our rooftop tents.

3. The roof racks should be mounted on your car with a distance of minimum 70-120 cm between them. Rule of thumb is that the rooftop tent should be able to extend about 30-40 cm both at the front and back of the roof racks.

It is important that your roof racks are placed on “feets” and not in between them. Examples below.

How long does it take to fold out and set up the rooftop tent?

Folding out the rooftop tent when you’ve reached your camping site only takes a couple of minutes.

How much space does the rooftop tent take when packed?

When folded in and in movement, the rooftop tent is about 120 cm wide and 35 cm high.

Can i pack up the rooftop tent when wet?

Yes. The tent dries quickly when folded up and with the windows open, just in time for your next nights sleep.
